postgres takes too much space/cache

Postby uludaq » Tue Feb 04, 2020 12:12 pm

hi guys and a healthy new year!

is it normal that my postgresfolder is about 13GB of space big?

because by installing it i had the feeling i also installed needless sideprograms which were asked for like

update monitor 1.0
psqlODBC 10.02.0000
postgres manager
etc.

they dont take that big of a space in my program list

i`ll be thankful for every answer

That primarily depends on the number of hands you have imported into your database and a rough guideline is about 1GB per 100k hands imported although it can vary depending on the types of hands and if any custom statistics are being used. Also if you have a large number of PostgreSQL log files those can be deleted safely - do not delete anything else:

Guide: PostgreSQL Log Files

They are not needed but they will not be taking up much space.
