Access the postgreSQL database directly

Is there a way to access the database directly, if I want to run my queries? If I run read-only queries, will this keep me out of trouble? I assume it would, but I don't want to take any chances damaging the database.

I don't where the database is stored in macOS. Would you please point me the right direction?

You can access the database directly using PGAdmin and read only queries should be fine but be careful not to unintentionally change anything using it. You can backup your poker data at anytime before using other tools to access your database.
