No more Not Responding Windows

Postby Hellos » Tue Jan 08, 2013 4:01 am

When purging hands in NoteTracker or in the Database Manager, PT4 always goes into not responding mode, and the user has no idea if PT4 has crashed or is simply processing something in the background for an uncertain amount of time.

Would be great to run whatever is being done in the background as a separate process as to not affect the GUI, and optimally accurately predict the remaining time.

When that happens PT4 is working and you should just let it continue to do so. What are the specs on your machine? There is a purging window indicating that we are running a Purge that should have a time remaining for purge from Database Management. Purge from NoteTracker should be pretty fast - how long are you seeing it take?

I have a 2010 MBP with i7 processor and 7200rpm HDD.

Purging my DB for hands from other sites: I ran it for 8 hours and said 1k hours remaining.

Roughly how big was the database before you started the purge, and how many hands do you expect it to remove?

Let's try to keep the purging issue to the other thread we have open about it. Having it in two places is just going to confuse me :)
