New Stat

Postby redicerap » Sun Aug 12, 2012 9:54 pm

Hi. I need a stat which is just like the PFR but counts 3+bets as folds, so the opportunities stay the same as in the VPIP stat. The RFI stat has only about half of the PFR opportunities which is confusing to me. I'm not sure if the stat I want makes sense or if I'm missing something, tho.

That sounds like you want a stat to count only the percentage of times a player made the first raise preflop (ignoring 3bets or higher) - is that right?
There are built-in stats for "Raise First In" and "Raise With Previous Callers" which give you this based on whether or not anyone had limped (called the big blind) before the player acted.
There is also a "2Bet Preflop" stat available for free download from the Download Warehouse (posted by me) if you prefer an overall of those two stats.

Raise First In only counts the specific situation where everyone has folded to the player and they therefore have the opportunity to open the pot.
PFR counts any opportunity to raise preflop, regardless of preflop action. Over any decent sample size this will always have a higher number of opportunities because you can raise any hand unless a player who acted before you has already raised more than your stack size (or everyone folds to your BB, or you're all-in for a blind). An opportunity to "RFI" is also an opportunity to "PFR" (but not all PFR opps are RFI opps).

hi thx for your reply. im not sure if you understand what i want. i simply want a pfr stat that counts 3+bets as folds. i dont like the fact that the rfi stat is always higher than the vpip, i want to compare both stats while im playing and simply want to exclude 3+ bets by counting them as folds. so the stat i want will always be a bit lower than the pfr. i know that stat also wont be accurate. it simply will display how many pots someone opened in fact (doesn't matter if he had an opportunity to do so or not). basicly if someone has a pfr of 15%, a 3bet of 5% and a 4bet of 2%, not sure how to count it all together, but lets say we have to add 3- and 4-bet and divide by 2 then subtract from pfr, then i want the new stat to display 11.5%. the point of this is i will have a 3- and 4-bet stat anyway in my hud, so i dont need these stats in the pfr, the stat i want will be more accurate then the pfr for the things you want to do when looking at the pfr (3betting pre, flat calling pre).

another question: im playing with the reposts right now and wanna know how much tourney chips i won when i faced a preflop 3bet after open raising. how exactly do i do that?

ok since 3- and 4-bets are in pfr that means the following for the stat i want:

PFR: 15%
3Bet: 5%
4+ Bet: 2%

PFR
- 15/100*5 = 0.75
- 15/100*2 = 0.3
----------------------
New Stat = 13.95%

not a math expert, but i think this is what i want

What you really want is PFR - Legacy Edition. The PT3 version of PFR was what percentage of hands you raised in regardless of whether you had an opportunity to do so or not. That stat is built in and available to you now.

Regarding the reports you want to create a Player report grouped by player and add your BB Won stat to it. Then in the blue Filters link add Simple Filters for:

Actions and Opportunities -> Preflop -> Raises -> Raised First In
and
Actions and Opportunities -> Preflop -> Opportunities -> Opportunity to 4Bet (Faced 3Bet)

Awesome! Thank you! Didn't try the legacy version yet but got the thing in the reports to work! I'm experimenting more and more with the software and am very happy about the amazing support!
Now, how do I display the stat with the "BB won when RFI and faced 3bet" in my HUD, and how do I hide stats when there is a too small sample size? When there where no opportunities for my stats I display "X" in my HUD. I want to do the same with stats that I don't want to see due to low samples sizes (like 3bet, if someone had let's say only 2 opportunities to 3bet I wanna hide the stat and display "X" instead, when there are 3 opportunities I want to display that stat).

Don't know, the highest sample size I have from a player is 50. Don't think the stat is that great, since even someone with a sample size of 20 could lose a buncha pots in the early stages and win one big pot at the late stages or vice-versa, so maybe it's better to make it how many times a player won the pot when RFI and face 3bet, and put some kind of BB filter on it, to only display the stats of BB200 or more. Also would like to hear your personal opinion about this kind of stat, I think I'm going into the right direction. When looking at the report it seems like a lot of good players have a negative figure, and surprisingly this is the case for super aggro players and for what I thought were NITs, and I think single hands gonna screw the stat too much, where other filters might be great to make a decision easier whether to 3bet a player or not in a certain situation.

Honestly my personal opinion is that stats revolving around actual winnings have such huge variance that they're really not worth working on a whole lot. There's a lot more effective ways to figure out what an opponent is doing - finding out if he's profitable when he does what he does doesn't actually mean as much as you might think.
