HUD notes window needs more flexibility

Hi, I have a few simple ideas that should make this window more user friendly

1. Have it stay permanently focused in windows, or add an option to that effect. There is software out there such as IGT/Entraction, maybe others which automatically steals focus when a table demands action and it's really annoying/hard/wasting time off tables to write a note while playing because of that. I've noticed some text editors don't let it steal focus from them though, so I know it's possible

2. Enable the ability to select only 1 street of notes for note tracker, perhaps for self notes as well. Now if I want only preflop stats I have to deselect everything else, would be cool if you also made buttons with the street names to select one street with one click. Perhaps radio buttons instead of checkboxes, or both? I know with just radio buttons you'd lose the ability to view 2 streets at the same time but you can just have a button for all of them, selecting 2 specific streets is not that useful. The way it is now it is very time consuming to find what you're looking for

3. Let the user be able to decide the size and placement of the notes window, want to make it bigger for example but when I open again it resets to its default size. Also I would love to be able to select one area of the screen where it opens instead of moving them around all the time because they're cluttering the tables. Same could work when opening the hand history window.

1. PT4 is designed not to interfere with your game, and preventing table windows taking focus would definitely come under that description so I doubt that would be done. Furthermore, that is normal Windows behaviour - it is not up to a Window from one application to stop another application promoting a window.

2. We've had this request before but I will remind the development team about it for when they revisit note functionality.

3. There are contradicting requests for note window positioning, and we're never going to make everyone happy, but in the next release note windows will remember their size and it will be possible to open more than one note window at a time. They will always open by the note icon position, though.

Well unfortunately some poker software is so shitty it's severely impeding functionality of writing a note - you end up literally trying to type one letter at a time before the table jumps in front and you have to move the cursor again, and then that or another table gets the focus...extremely annoying. If it's easy to implement I would like it as an option so everyone can choose what they like..

3. That's great news about the size. You can already open multiple note windows with the current release. As for positioning I'm just arguing for letting the user choose where they want it positioned on their screen and have pt4 remember, not sure how this could create contradictions with other users - everyone will be able to place it wherever it makes them happy :geek:

Since you can now open more than one note window at a time, what are the chances of having more than one note icon per player? Similar to the above request about quickly getting to Pre, flop, turn, river notes, I find that I use the tool tip quite often. But if we are on the turn, those notes are off the page and I have to open the note window and find them. Being able to define a note Icon to only show turn notes, for example, in it's tooltip would be helpful. You wouldn't have to change anything storage-wise and the window would just act like it was filtered.

That's an interesting suggestion. It's certainly not something we could do that easily but it's interesting.

Could it be possible to make autonotes "active" and move up/down the list in relation to street and actions ? Fx., lets say we have 3 players seeing the flop. Player A Cbets the flop and player B calls. When I now look at the notes for player A, I would like all notes involving flop Cbet on top in the notewindow, and when I look at the notes for player B, I would like all notes involving calling a flop Cbet on top. In that way, always have the most relevant notes at the top.

I think that would be very useful for players with many note definitions, but I am not sure if it is possible at all..

PT4 doesn't know anything about the progress of a hand so that sort of thing isn't possible.

point 2 is essential to be able to play comfortably. We did have a discussion about that during the beta stage and unfortunately nothing was done in this matter. In my opinion it would be best to have 5 buttons : PRE, FLOP, TURN, RIVER, ALL (and maybe 6th - NONE). This is such a good idea.

Apart from that, there is still way too much clicking in the notes window. In PT3 in order to make a note, you had to click note button, and then type and hit ENTER and all was done. Now you have to click notes, write and click save, which makes the operation more time consuming (considering a multitabling reg). It doesn't matter to me if it has to be ctrl+enter, but i need to be able to close the window using my keyboard

Third and most importantly, when i move my mouse on the note icon i want to be able to see all the notes, not a "please click for additional notes" info, so the popup should be much bigger. You have added a great functionality with note tracker, but with the larger amount information available, it should also be easily accessible while playing, not having to make additional mouse clicks.

Fourth thing that i do not like is (a bit of oot, sorry) that when i click for a stats popup, the stats appear gradually (it seems as they are being calculated on the go). Most of the time i need a popup just to look for one specific number or a spot (like fold to turn cbet). I'd much rather have no info/all info popup than this gradual, which makes me wait and wander if the info i have is full or do i need to wait for it to appear.

There are definitely plans to address the third and fourth points you make - the third point (ability to configure the tooltip output) should be one of the first things we get to I think.
