all-inEV in multiway Pots

Postby kellerassel007 » Thu Jul 12, 2012 4:19 pm

Hi,

is there any reason why the all-inEV which works great normally, but in multiway-pots (with more than two players all-in) it only takes the result of the pot as all-inEV?

In the Handhistory-Viewer are the right equity % for every hand, but not calculated right in all-inEV (or call it Equity, don't know).

When a player who called the initial all-in later folds we cannot accurately determine all-in luck adjusted results because the player who folded had equity in the pot and folded it later. As such we simply don't calculate and take the results as we do for every other (non-all-in) hand.

But in some hands when 3 Players or more are preflop all-in the all-inEV isn't calculated right, too.
Without folding anyone on later streets because everybode is already all-in before flop.
I can send you some example hands if you want, but i mustn't upload them here, you said?

If we know all of the cards involved in the all-in pot(s) then the equities and all-in adjusted results should be calculated.
If you have hands where this isn't happening please attach the histories to a Support Ticket with a link to this thread so that we can investigate. Thanks.

There seem to be many opinions about the all-in equity calculations. Would it make sense to offer the user the option to enter assumed hole cards or ranges in those cases where the hole cards are unknown? (and then base the calculations on that) That would make a bit of sense for something like Ongame, where hole cards can be seen in the replayer but don't show up in the hand histories. But even for other spots, either where someone folds or hole cards are unknown, giving the option to adjust the hole cards and/or enter dead cards would move the whole issue into the user's control.

That may be something we revisit in the future, but I'm not sure when it will be feasible. For now you can check your equities in the Equity Calculator (from the Replayer click the Options button > Launch Equity Calculator to pre-populate with known data (which you can add specific hands or ranges to) or from the menu Tools > Equity Calculator.

Wow. I've spent day and night with PT4 since April and there are still new unknown features popping up. Amazing! Very convenient!

Since I mostly play limit I'm not really sure how this should work (it's a pretty rare case in FL)... but I noticed quite a large difference in myC won and myC AI-adj numbers and investigated a bit. Both these hands gives me all-in equity of 0.00 on the statistics page (but the myC AI-adj for the hand shows the same as the actual win/loss in the hand) . The all-in happens on flop when SB puts in the rest of his money. I'd think I still have some equity left.
Also, when I sort the report by AIE, these hands don't sort directly after others which have a reasonable number, there are hands between that don't have AIE marked at all.

You definitely should have equity in both of these cases. Please attach the original hand history text to a support ticket and we'll make sure this gets sorted out for you.

I know that in terms of STT play that equity is not calculated at all if a player is auto all-in due to tiny stack. This is something i have mentioned before and i do feel should be looked into
