Vector HUD: Huge problem with table fonts

Postby kydechuk01 » Sat Dec 17, 2011 10:36 am

1) Problem №1 with fonts

I'm using system windows font "Small fonts" with it's maximum size 7. I think this is one of the best fonts for HUD for massive multitabling.

How it was in PT3:

And how it now looks in PT4:

As you see, now it's complete unreadable and unusable because of my playing default table size not equal to the table size which is PT4 decides to set as starting point of vector resizing (much bigger then mine). And unfortunately I can't set my font size bigger then 7, it's the maximum.

Sub-problem for this - Mucked cards popup is also unreadable if we have lesser windows size.

So I have a simple suggestion which can resolve this problem completely: Make an option to the HUD to lock current table size as default for font settings. And the font's size chosen in the HUD Profile must be set as 100% on screen for this default size.

2) Very strange haotic separator alignment if the table groups are in Grid mode.
Here is example: http://img442.imageshack.us/img442/9555/pt4hudbadgridalignment.png
(All stats alignments are set to "Right" on this HUD example)

3) And the little third problem - can you disable dragging for HUD elements (including the HUD icon) by left mouse button? I think many grinders already used to move all things by right mouse and there there will be a lot of misclicks because of that.

1. This is an issue with anti-aliasing. I mentioned the solution we're going to implement in another thread.

2. This looks like a padding issue. Does using a padding of 1 or 2 improve things?

3. When the hud is locked, you cannot drag with the left button. Go to the PT menu and select "Lock" when you're done moving your groups around.

Okay I will very wait for the update with anti-aliasing option. But please, think about my suggestion about locking base windows size to scale HUD from.

No, I also tried to clear the group, add new stats, check Column spaining (all=1), alignment (all=right), set Padding from 0 to 2 and it looks the same bad in Grid. Used other separator symbols, no difference.

I already found a method to drag with CTRL key while locked. But I'm keep thinking there is no need to double functioning of both buttons. Left mouse to choose some option/open popup, right mouse to move it - is more clear.

+1

I really don't like the HUD locked by the way. I'd rather at least have an option to have it locked or unlocked when I start a session - that would pretty much please everyone.

Right-click is being use for the context menus. For moving UI elements Ctrl-drag or Shift-drag is much more universal across a variety of applications.

What I didn't get yet is the purpose of context menus on the HUD. Since double clicking the HUD brings session stats anyway, so far the only feature for the menu is to add player as a buddy - and I'm super sure everyone would prefer to move HUD with right click and add buddy with ctrl+click. So much easier and more straightforward.

The Ctrl-drag might be more universal across a variety of aplications but that doesn't mean it's better for PT4 and its use. Plus, you have this justification for player groups BUT have the popups moving by simple right click+drag (which is great, PLEASE don't change it).

You can also toggle session stats on a given player using the right click menu.

Yeah, but I can also do that by double clicking, which is much much simpler. Why there need to be two different ways of doing it?

By the way, if I'm the replayer and double click the HUD it simply dissapears.
