Database issue. Cannot connect

I receive the following error upon startup of PT4.

Unable to login to database (potgres). Reason: Connection to server at "localhost" (::1), port 5432 failed. Connection refused. Is the server running on that host and accepting TCP/IP connections?



If I ignore this message and continue to use PT4, I am met with attempts to access a database. The error returns as follows: Unable to connect to PostgreSQL database. This server is not responding to connection attempts. Please restart PostgreSQL and PokerTracker, then try again

I hope the answer isn't in the faq... please help if possible.

I think I've found instructions to fix this issue somewhere in the forums. will try all that now

I try to create a new databas since the active one lists N/A as the size so clearly is worthless.

I now have an error about trailing junk after numeric literal

now when i launch pt4, i am taken to the select database screen.

therein lies another error, connecting to the default database.

when i try to create a new one, i get the error above.

please help

The trailing junk error only happens in newer versions of PostgreSQL that are not supported by PokerTracker 4. Please uninstall the version(s) of PostgreSQL you currently have installed:

and then manually download and install PostgreSQL v16:
