transferring pt2 database to pt3

Postby kyotoisok » Wed May 14, 2008 7:19 am

hi,
i just downloaded pt3. it looks great! i believe you're about to add ongame to list of supported poker rooms.
i'm trying to figure out what will be the best way to move my pt2 database to pt3. i think i have postgreSQL.. (how do i confirm this). when i downloaded pt3, i exported all my pt2 hand histories to a file - there were errors though (a few hundred out of 300k hands i think) e.g. Unable to get hand history for game #240668.

thanks.

edit: also when will be required to pay for pt3?

Open the File > Maintain Database Names window. Do any databases there have a "Type" of "PostgreSQL"? If not, you haven't been using PostgreSQL with PT2.

PT3 is not a free upgrade, you will get a discount based on how long you have owned PT2, please see here

It's just as easy/fast to use the Export Hand Histories To File option to export the hands and then use those files to import into PT3.

Converting to PostgreSQL isn't going to help with the "unable to get game #" errors because PT3 needs the hand history text to convert the hands and if it's missing when you export to file, then it's going to be missing when you convert to PostgreSQL so either way, those hands that are missing will not get converted.

i just tried to import all the hands in the new release but i got a lot of errors. (i exported all my pt2 hand histories to notepad files). all these hands would have shown up properly in pt2 so i don't know what the problem is - one possibility is the problem with ongame hand histores where it says NL$2-4 when it should be NL$1-2. I think this problem occurs in a lot of my hand histories but they were able to import ok in pt2..

here's a screen shot.. i can send more info if you need it.

thanks
